Is the story being told in the comic book the same as the novel?

Thanks,

pdm

I think its suppose to be what was going on with Hatter as he traveled the world looking for Alyss.

The comics tell of what Hatter goes through during the 13 years that he's looking for Alyss. It goes along with the book only in the few parts where we see what he has been up too.

I's check here for #2:

http://www.milehighcomics.com/

That's where I recently picked up my copy.

#1 is impossible to find (and believe me, I've looked). My understanding is that demand for the title was higher than expected so they ran out. There's been no word on a reprint yet.

I apologise if this is said in another thread. But how long have to comics been out? And how many are there? Until i found this site, i didn't know that any of these things existed! ^_^

They've been out for a whiole now I think. I only picked them up because I'm a comic nut and I an a fan of the artist Ben Templesmith. The storys great though and has certianly beocme one of my favs. Issue three is just out and I think there are still copies of that around however issue 2 was a real struggle to get hold of. It was only thaks to a lovely memeber on here that I finally manged to pick it up. I tried Mile High too but they didn't have it when I ordered from them despite listing it on ebay

I have recently ordered a few copies of the Hatter M series. I haven't recieved them in the mail yet, but I found that Ebay has them from time to time. It depends on where you're getting them from, the price varies. I saw a single issue of #1 go for about $21 plus shipping. However, I managed to get two (1,2,3) sets for $12/set plus shipping.

Before I found these sets, I was trying to piece it all together and was able to track down #2.5 and #3 fairly easily... but it took a while to track down #2. I ended up getting it at Mile High Comics as well.

... too bad I didn't read this thread first... could have saved me a few hours.

If you are SERIOUS about comics and want to just pay the price to get it... I found one yesterday in another city here in Ohio. It's in Fairborn Ohio and it's called Bookery Fantasy. They had #1 in stock, but it is a $20 minimum order on shipping. They were only asking face value for the comic... so, you'd have to order something else to go with it. Their phone number is (937) 879-1408

Anyway... hope this helps!

Depends on what you are wanting though. Collectors don't want reprints... they want originals.

Reprints are good for someone that just wants a copy or simply wants to read, but isn't serious about collecting them.

I wonder, does anyone know if the Hatter M series will be released in a graphic novel format once the first arc is over? It's something I'd definitely consider buying; I'm not overly keen on reading the individual issues spaced months apart, and prefer having the seamlessness of the whole thing bound together in one volume.

I'm sure there are plenty of archie comics and the adventures of scoobie doo you would rather spend your money on.

Cool. U like them?

I've just finished the first one. I really like the sketch-like drawings...they communicate a sense of motion and urgency. They're dark and I like that! When I viewed the comic pages on-line I was turned off by the sketch-like drawings...but on paper and in front of me...very cool!

Agreed! I'm eager to read the other three...but...then I'll have nothing left to read of the LGW world. :(

That's the one terrible thing about good stories and series...they come to an end.

You are so right. I just hate it when the author decides to end a really good trilogy, sigh, i hope Beddor dosn't stop with LGW any time soon.
you probably should try to take your time with the comics, as that will be the last of LGW until the third book hits the bookshelves and the upcoming movie is finished.

The problem is I tend to devour good books (and comics). LGW is just a trilogy? Yes? I wonder if Beddor will continue with the Hatter M. comics after the novels end. Or maybe start a new series altogether.

I'm very intrigued by Hatter M. He's an interesting character...rather tormented and driven. I want to know what makes him tick. What was he like as a child? What was his Millinery training like? All the stuff that made him Hatter M.

We learn a lot about him in Seeing Redd...but I want more!!!

The Dark Hatter

Same here. Though i tryed to restrain myself, it only took me two days 2 finish lgw. and the comics, being shorter, i devoured like a revenous wolf. They're just so good, its hard to read slowly!
As for hatter, you can probably see this from my siggy and avvy, he is my favorite character. i havent read seeing redd yet, but i would like to know more about him. i hope he makes many more hatter m. books, maybe he'll even do some full-length novels, and of course i hope he makes many lgw books, but i have a feeling he will only do three.
What woulld be cool was if they made a movie about him.

Even a short viral would be cool!

There are some great scenes in Seeing Redd that reveal the "human" aspects of Hatter M. I can't wait for you to read it so we can chat about all the cool Hatter M moments!!!

I also really like Dodge's character and the Dodge and Alyss story arc. What losing his father and Alyss does to him! OMG! The characters get so much more flushed out in Seeing Redd...just wait!

It depends. I'd say if you like really dark art, then you might see something in Hatter M that you'll like, as Ben Templesmith does a very good job. It's the art, in fact, that drew my fiance' into it (we saw it at WonderCon the year before last), and then I was pulled in behind him.

I'd say look at Ben Templesmith's site, and see what you think of that.

But let me say it again: He's dark. It's mature stuff...definitely not quite the same demographic as the book is.

Well, My girlfriend and I have ordered the comic's recently and also have devoured the book. We've both come to an agreement that Hatter m. is one of the best characters in our opinions. I'm looking forward to the dark and sketchy seeming art, and I was reading through this, it seems as if there is a very much half-sies type feelings on the comic.

So, My question is, if favorite characters tend to move towards the dark side, would the comic be liked for storyline? character design? Event's?
