Hi everyone,
I just found the site, and was looking for some info on the second book release date (I just read the first!), which I see is posted several times as October 23, 2007. However, when I checked Amazon.com yesterday, it shows it as August 21, 2007! I figured people would be happy about that.
I also wanted to say that I was impressed and excited as I read through many of the posts on these forums. Some of the commentary on the books is really insightful and interesting, and I enjoy reading opinions both pro and con this spin-off/re-tell/re-imagine of Alice's Adventures and Through the Looking Glass.
Almost my whole life (I guess I was reading at a very young age!), I have loved the "deliberate nonsense" of Lewis Carroll's Alice books. The creatures, the magic, the absurdity . . . as I got older, I grew to appreciate the social commentary, the clever puns and rhymes, etc. However, since Alice's Adventures doesn't have the more public cult following of some of the other classics (even before said classics were made into movies!), I never realized the depth of feeling that others share about these two books. It has been a pleasure to see some of that here on the forum, and I love the discussions.
The other pros/cons of a "book website" aside, it is only through a forum like this, as ironic as it seems, that I could connect with others worldwide to share my love of books.
I'm happy to be a small part of it now.
