Her Imperial Viciousness

Well, now that I've got your attention.... and without slamming a staff on the floor and sending out flesh-eating roses at that.
Freshly joined, mostly watching for now, but if I find myself with something to say I'm sure I won't hold back from doing so.
I suppose my nickname implies plenty about what I liked most in the book.. :)
...which reminds me... I saw Frank recently at WonderCon, and he had what I believe is the cover art for Seeing Red. It's -very- lovely. *evil grin*
That said, I'm going to sit back and page through the archives a bit, mindfully dodging the occasional yucky advertising posties that might have cropped up.

Mmm. Chocolate....
Well, I will sum it up like this:
It's Redd. It's very Redd in all of her vicious glory. Flaring dress fabric and flesh eating roses galore. And long, pointy-pointy red fingernails.
I saw it, and I was making noises not far from what a little kid would make if told that he had five minutes to run through a toy store and anything he grabbed was his. But I am a costumer, and Redd is on my list of projects I want to make very very badly :D
She's beautiful, lemme tell ya. Evil and beautiful!

Nope...different one.
I'm jogging my memory, but I believe Frank said it is a very very new piece, and it's definitely not anything that is currently on this site unless it's been uploaded since the beginning of the month. I want to say it's the same artist that did the picture of Redd that's in the site design area here:

It's very much the same style...but she's wearing a full-length dress with a fur collar of some sort.
He also had some new shirts too...and on Sunday he had this custom-made shirt....it was black with the Wonderland logo put on it in small silver studs. Really wish I my camera was working, or I would have taken a fair amount of pictures.

i just looked at the picture and am sad to say that Redd looks too young and beautiful to be really Redd,u know, all evil-like, mean, and nasty. the artwork is very disticnt and sharp. her features are cleverly exposed in the pic. it was really nice tho. =]

If it helps...three main differences I saw from the concept piece I posted and the new art:
1. She looks older. Maybe not THAT much older, but at least in her late 20's. I can't recall reading what Redd's actual age was and how much older she was than Genevieve, but her look for the cover seems more appropriate to that range.
2. She looks more unnatural. The shot above seems very sci-fi and her hairdo is easily recognizable as a modern cut. For the new shot, her hair was kind of mussed and curly and looked kind of windblown, and her skin's more pale..almost vampiric. I don't think pupils were drawn into her eyes. Her fingernails look at least an inch past her fingertips and her hands had a faint claw-like look to them. Still attractive, but definitely 'off'.
3. She's much more modestly dressed. In fact, there are actually two versions of the art..both alike except for how her...well, whether you can see a tiny -tiny- bit of her cleavage. The non-cleavage version I was told was for the more conservative places like children's libraries, and was the one that Frank brought to WonderCon on Saturday. But the dress is full length, with a tight bodice and long, somewhat flared sleeves, and has the aforementioned fur collar on it. The roses, in some places, almost look embedded -into- the dress around the front, though I need to sit down and study it further whenever I see it again.
Above all, Frank felt very strongly that this really came very close to the mark of what -his- idea of Redd was...and freakier yet, the new art was really close to how -I- thought of her (other than a bit of confusion on her hair color).

I'll have to admit, I'm relieved that the new design for Redd resembles the concept you mentioned, but at the same time tweaked it so that she falls more in line with what her character's like in the book. While Redd's concept artwork is one of my favourites (the other being an ethereal portrait of Genevieve in her glory), she just looked too pretty and normal. As well as looking not unlike a displaced Matrix extra in that outfit.
Can't wait to see the final art for myself!

Hm. Now that I've seen it, is anyone else reminded of Jadis (from CS Lewis' Narnia)?

Yep, that is the one I saw...in a much larger version on a table, of course, but oh that is the one.
