Who would you audition for?

so i heard that the Looking Glass Wars movie script is finished and they are trying to work with directors. Casting calls will be up in some unmeasurable amount of time. Some people in this forum are actors and actresses, so i was wondering...if you could audition for anyone, who would it be? Anyone can answer this question even if you're not into acting.

I can't exactly act very well, but if I could audition, I'd try for one of the other Ladies of the court (Spade, Diamond, Club). Probably not a popular choice, but the way they squabble amongst each other and their clashing of egos is just too comic to pass up.

Hmm... Me, personally? I'd love to try and be The Cat, because I just love that personality. But I'm a girl, so it isn't a likely role.

None of the characters of the fairer sex would really appeal to me as a role. But being a flower (I love to sing) or a caterpillar would be fun. ^^

According to an earlier thread, there will be casting notices placed on the LGW main site in due course. I'm uncertain as to whether or not these mean open auditions, however, not being an actor (though I have done costuming work for theatre groups).

I think it would be cool if they got away from the Lewis Carrol and Walt Disney version of red being fat ugly and pompous, and have her be ferociously, fiercly beautiful, but frazzled at the same time. You know, like, have her be pretty, but in an intimidatling way, but make her had absolutly crazy hair and makeup. Bright red and black hair all standing up on end and in chunks like edward scissorhands, and with a gorgeous deep red and black dress and dark red lips and black eye makeup. I am working on a painting right now that depicts her in this light. It's turning out good so far. I will send it in as soon as i am done.


Anyway, i would love to play redd. She rocks!

OMG I'm serious that is almost EXACTLY how I pictured Redd...to be truthful I have several different versions of her in my head but your description is the biggest one. I mean WOW....As far as the hair goes....I kinda pictured something like Rufio's (you know from that AWESOME movie Hook which is an unoffical sequel to Peter Pan kinda like LGW is to Alice in Wonderland) so you know like that only longer and not quite as high up....and as I said earlier I would just DIE to be Redd (not really but close enough)

I'd love to audition for Alyss. She goes through so many different stages emotionaly in the book and it would be fun to play that dynamic. There is so much to work with there.
I also like the caterpillars because I always think it's funny when you find out that these supposedly all-knowing wise characters turn out to have some of the quirkiest personalities.

I would totally be Dodge, I relate to him completely. Whe I was like 8 or 9 I was living in Cali, and I had lived there for five years. After that, because my dad was in the military, we had to move all the way up to Washington, and leave all of my friends behind. Sort of like when Dodge was separated from Alyss and became all depressed. I was on the brink of going goth!!!:(

It was hardly off topic. I mentioned that I know the PERFECT little girl to play a young Alyss. And that she's utterly adorable and loves Hannah Montana (an adorable quality for a 7 year old, in my opinion)

Well they might shoot some of the film where Alice Liddle grew up or in London. I wonder what accent you would need. I have a weird accent becuase i can't find out what it is. It's different than any other accent. It's American but not. I want to find out when and where the auditions are soon so I can present it to my parents on how we're gonna get there and stuff like that!

That could be a combination of things. Think of how the Lord of the Rings movies were filmed..they found good locations that they could use as-is or build sets into (I always think of Hobbiton as a neat example), but they still had to computer-augment some parts of them a LOT to create the illusion.

This is not to say that the Chessboard will be filmed in a desert, but hey, California has no small amount of desert-type land :)

They also do a lot of studio stuff, sometimes using airplane hangars and stuff to build huge sets for fantastical locations. You know the flying pirate ship in Stardust? It was built and filmed in a big warehouse or something, and all the background stuff was digitally added after the scenes on the ship were shot (with a green screen behind it).

I have a feeling that there will be a bunch of scenes shot like that in the LGW movie. Therefore, they might not need to go very far at all; just find a big studio somewhere.

I've been waiting for this to come for so long that I guess that I had subconsciously just accepted that it would never actually happen. When I ever saw that notice, I swear I almost fainted, and that my heart literally started beating about five times faster than it normally does.

I'm just so blown away! And I don't even know what to do, because the part that I really want to audition for is Homburg Molly, but what if they don't have open auditions for that part? Young Alyss was my second choice, but I'm fifteen, and I don't know if what they're looking for is a seven year old for the early Wonderland scenes, or like people to play Alyss while she's growing up in Oxford.

The other thing is that I'm not English, though I can do what I think is a reasonably decent English accent.

And also I don't have an agent or anything, or any professional headshots, and although I've done a ton of acting, I haven't the foggiest idea how to write an acting resume.

Yeah, as I think I've posted before, I also just got my hair cut a couple weeks ago, and now it's really short, and awesomely Molly! I don't have bangs, though. :(

I also am in performances for a play right now, and it's really awesome and intensely dramatic, and really just a lot of raw acting. I even get to do a Texas accent and stuff. :) And I love the feeling I get when I'm onstage and after when I'm on this total performance high, and I just think, This is what I want to do for the rest of my life!

And yes, I totally agree about the open auditions for Molly. If they don't have them, I will be SOOOO MAD!!!!! :mad:

I have addressed this issue to another concerned person from the forum. First, I'd like to assure you that neither Her Imperial Viciousness, nor myself, were responsible for this. The site was undergoing a server update and in those times it is VERY normal for the last couple days before the update to be wiped from memory.

I feel very bad that this happened and I probably SHOULD have made a post about it so people didn't think that their posts were simply being deleted. I promise you, they were not. EVERY post made 2-3 days before the server update was deleted.

You are MORE than welcome to post anything again and I rather hope that you do!! :)

I was JUST about to suggest that myself actually. :)

Personally, I'm not right for any of the roles, but Redd (of the female roles available) would probably be the most fun.

Well... you still never know...

I mean, if for the reasons you stated, you couldn't be any of the main characters, maybe you could still be, like... IDK... an extra or somthing. If I couldn't audition for a main role I would probably try to at least get on the set as whatever, because then you can know that you were at least in it, and had a part, no matter how small, in bringing LGW to life on the screen.

At least, that's probably what I would do.
