Does anyone know what we might need to audition? I mean along the lines of SAG and other things. Any opinions or ideas?

Funny, I was just thinking that this would be a very good subject to have a discussion on. People will have a lot of questions on what is needed, what should and shouldn't be done, etc.

If there are any of you here that have experience and know this stuff, by all means put it out there!

I actually may request that a couple of people I know provide some thoughts on this as well...one has done a lot of theater (and auditionings) and the other one works in casting. I am sure that they might have some good information.

I've had a bit of experience... I reached the last round in the Lyra auditions for The Golden Compass movie lol! When you send off a tape of yourself acting you shouldn't be wearing much make up, your hair should be out of your face, and the scene you're doing should be a fairly simple dialodue (no more than three people speaking) which shows emotion. If possible go to a place similar to that of the scene then the directors know you've made an effort and are enthusiastic.

Sign up to Freewebs and take a look at this site - become a member of it or ivite it as a friend and you can look at loads of info on acting/auditions and there's even a page for auditions, too! :)

Also if it's open auditions be prepared to wait fro years to get into see the casting people and don't build your hopes up. You literally see them for two seconds but if they think you look the part they will ask you to read something. If you get past that round be prepared to work your butt off in the auditions as there will be people who want it just as much or more than you do and you will have to fight for the role.

I don't know about anyone else, but the freewebs link didn't work for me. The site said that it didn't exist. It sounded like an awesome website, though--something I would totally love!

By the way, LookingGlassEcho, you seem to know a lot about the auditioning process. Have you done a lot of auditioning? Have you gotten a part? Please tell us about it!

if you get to read something out in the audition be prepared for it..
dont drink ice cold water because it tenses your throat muscles up makeing your voice croaky and unattractive, instead... drink warm water because it relaxes your throat muscles making it easier to talk or sing beautifully.

WRONG! So it's not official until he officiates it! LOL!

That's exactly right. And frankly, I don't trust anyone who says they're someone famous on a social networking site - unless it's been officially confirmed by the person themself.

Because I was giving up on my slight chance of playing Molly in the movie. And no, I don't usually hang out in corners.

I still don't have any professional headshots, and I have compiled a resume, but I'm pretty positive that it isn't up to industry standards as far as formatting and content go. :(

I didn't worry about a professional headshot because in the Narnia behind the scene book, I saw the headshots of all the Pevensies. They were anything but professional. A lot of them weren't even centered correctly.

I have no idea. But actually I am thinking that they are probably going to be looking pretty much everywhere. Probably mostly like England and America. But who knows.
