I've been thinking of this for a long time and I still can't decide If I would rather the origional Alice's Adventures In Wonderland Or LGW. It's A Tough Call, I love AAIW's nonsense and riddles but I love LGW's realism. Frank Beddor writes ina way of straightforward, no nonsense style, whereas Carroll puts hidden meanings in almost every sentence
In the end it's a tough call. But I believe I would Choose Looking Glass Wars
What do you think?

It's hard to choose between the two. Each author has his own unique style to be sure but I guess if I had to choose I would pick Frank Beddor. I just LOVE when authors rewrite classic stories and The Looking Glass Wars is the most imaginative one I've read as of yet.

for reasons i still cant fathom, my little sisters are always watching the one where live actors in corny suits dance around wonderland in a disturbing way, and it much worse.
something funny though was we got this new car which you can watch movies in and they wanted to watch alice in wonderland even though the sound didn't work. at some point of bored silence, my dad forgot they were watchin it and turned on this annoying rap music. wat was funny was everytime there was dioloug or singing, it looked like they were rapping, and everytime Alice and freinds danced, it looked like they were dancing to the music. It was sooooo funny. i am thinking about doing it again and videotaping it and posting it on youtube. :D

I think he does an absolutely wonderful job rewriting the old classic "Alice in Wonderland" and how he brings Lewis Carrol in, showing how Alice in wonderland came to being and giving the book a more realistic look. I love his version alot better than the old one.

Oh man, I absolutely HATE Lewis Carroll. Last semester in my speech class, I had to do a speech on him (but I chose him) and ..ugh. I hated the original movie too...
LGW is just amazing...Does anyone know when the 3rd one comes out? I'm tired of reading the other 2 over and over and over again, as amazing as they are.

I will allow Lewis Carroll to fight for himself...
Quotes from Alice in Wonderland:
The master of humor and word play, far exceeding philosophy of perspective...
March Hare: Have some wine.
(Alice looked all round the table, but there was nothing on it but tea.)
Alice: I don't see any wine.
March Hare: There isn't any.
Alice: Then it wasn't very civil of you to offer it.
March Hare: It wasn't very civil of you to sit down without being invited.
-----
Alice: Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?
The Cat: That depends a good deal on where you want to get to
Alice: I don't much care where.
The Cat: Then it doesn't much matter which way you go.
Alice: …so long as I get somewhere.
The Cat: Oh, you're sure to do that, if only you walk long enough.
-----
The Mock Turtle: (on School) Reeling and Writhing, of course, to begin with, and then the different branches of arithmetic -- Ambition, Distraction, Uglification, and Derision.
-----
Alice:Let me see, four times five is twelve, and four times six is thirteen, and four times seven is -- oh dear! I shall never get to twenty at that rate!
----
The Cat: By-the-bye, what became of the baby? I'd nearly forgotten to ask.
Alice: It turned into a pig.
The Cat: I thought it would.

Oh wow. I did always like the tea party....it's insanely normal. :)
I am a huge Lewis Carroll fan, and I have been for a while. But Im also a big Frank Beddor fan now.
Personally, I think the Lewis Carroll books are very philosophical and interesting. Where the Frank Beddor books to me are more about entertainment for me.
So I don't know, if I HAD to choose. If it were life or death for either book. Ide go with the Lewis Carroll books. I just can't see such a classic go to waste. But I adore Frank's books!

Not a tough choice for me. I honestly didnt get very much into the original... back in the day, Alice in Wonderland lost everytime to the almighty Labrynth.
However, add some grit like LookingGlass Wars does and damn it takes it all out.

i would have to say i would have to choose Beddor.... because of the realistic views in the books like Wondertropolis i see as being like New York City the whole thing is so real. the Looking glass maze (at least in my head) looks like the labrinth. (exept with mirrors) :D

I liked the original Alice In Wonderland books, but it's hard to compare the two. On the one hand you have the original children's story written for a little girl that grew into a classic and on the other hand you have a young adult novel filled with violence and life changing situations.
I like them both, but I've grown out of the old and found the new just as exciting.
for me it's a tie, Lewis Carrol opened the door to imaginitive creativeness from nonsence and ceated a world where anything was possible. Frank Beddor took that world and gave it a more fantasy/sciencefiction feel to it, he showed us his interpretation of Lewis's wonderland. so for me it's a tie :D

Well I don't see why one has to be better then the other.
I feel that Alice's Adventures In Wonderland has many things that make it great and so do The looking Glass Wars.
Alice's Adventures In Wonderland has amazing original Beauty, And The looking Glass wars have amazing new age beauty.

For me the "Lewis vs Frank" dilemma can be solved by the fact that i LOVED the origional as a child but being older i prefer Mr Beddor's version as its simply taken a great story to a whole new, different, beautifully twisted level. Both are legendrary though, of course!

I see it like this:
Once upon a time, Lewis Carroll, over a long period of time, planted and grew a rosebush, which produced beautiful flowers for the world to see. People oooh'd and were in awe. It was good.
Frank Beddor found this rosebush, tugged it out of the pot, turned it upside down, and showed us not only the beauty of the blooms, but the complexity of the tangled roots and the sting of the prickly thorns. He then put it in an elaborate holder and provided us with a very pretty hanging rosebush.
Peoploe oooh'd and were in awe. It was good.
