LGW Movie Cast?

Who do you guys think should play the main characters in the movie? I think Elijah Wood should play Dodge Anders but I can't think of anybody to play Alyss. At first I though of Keira Knightly but she's too popular and .... IDK, I don't really see her as Alyss. But others may think differantly.
Redd will be a hard character to cast. She has to strike fear into the viewers hearts. She can't be like Galbratorix in the Eragon movie. That guy was NOT scary. He was .... pitiful.
Hatter M. will also be a hard person to cast just because of how Hatter handles himself. Like showing no emotion in fighting. The actor has to be really fit in order to do some of the shots. They can't use stunt doubles for everything.
I'm really anxious to see who will play Homburg Molly. I wonder who they will get for her. It'll be interesting who they choose.

I really want to see Hugo Weaving as Hatter Madigan! I like the idea of Elijah Wood for Dodge...I can't think of anyone else...I'm not really a movie/actor buff. Ugh, I honestly do NOT want to see Kiera Knightly as Alyss. Hmmm....I can't think of anyone else...maybe someone new.

Keria Knightly was the first actress that came to mind when I wrote that because I had just seen Pride and Pred. starring her! I thought she did an awesome job in that movie. I love the music in it!

Maybe some unknown actress should play Alyss. Anyone else and people would be placing her in another role and it would just make the movie weird.

Hugo Weaving would make a great Hatter because he's such a great actor, it's just that he's too well known for LOTR. But he would still make an awesome Hatter.

What about Molly? Who do you think should play her?

I really think Lucy Griffiths would make a great Alyss as she has the sort of "interesting" beauty I imagine when I'm reading the book about the character and she's a really genuine actress too

And I think Richard Armitage or Zachary Quinto have the perfect voices for the Cat. Molly I'm not sure about - maybe Ellen Page who played Kitty in the last X-Men movie - or an unknown. Redd/Rose Heart - Famke Jansen, Helena Bonham Carter, and my own Queen has suggested Cate Blanchett
Dodge Anders - The "Heroes" kid seems to fit, maybe just because of the scar and the mood
Homburg Molly - Ellen Page has that stern but sweet face, I agree
Hatter Madigan - Oh, if Alan Rickman was ten or fifteen years younger to pull off all the stunts necessary! But who know, maybe? Hugh Jackman seems to have too much of a "handsome leading man" feel, though he does sell "troubled" in Van Helsing.
Cat - Surprisingly, there is another Robin Hood character (different setting) that had immediately come to mind for me- Michael Wincott. Can't you just hear that hellish purr coming from him?

eI agree with Queen of Hearts for Alyss. I think Lucy Griffiths is a great Alyss.
However, I dont agree with Elijah Wood for Dodge - I think I would look at him and see "Hobbit" and that would be a problem.

Johnny Depp would be cool as Hatter Madigan, If they could get the costume at least half as interesting as his costume in Pirates of the Caribbean I think he would look awesome.

Teddy Dunn could work if he dyed his hair darker and didnt wear polos

Martin Short would be an amazing Bibwit. If you've seen him in the Hallmark production of Alice in Wonderland, even though he plays the Mad Hatter. After that I could definitely see him as Bibwit.

As far as the others, from the beginning, something in my mind has kinda muttered Cate Blanchett in a muffled voice for Redd, but I think that Famke COULD pull it off too.

I kinda want Dodge and Alyss, both young and old, to be fresh faces. I know that's asking kind of a lot, but I really can't see any of today's actors/actresses in the right age range playing those roles. The only ones that even come to mind are kinda crappy acting b or c list names. I'd rather have a fresh face that can act his/her ass off than a b or c list actor just there for a name that people recognize and hacking the roles to itty bitty bits.

Bibwit...I think Martin Short could pull off the ATTITUDE and PERSONALITY of Bibwit, but they'd have to do some impressive CGI and make the man about a foot taller at least.

I totally agree with the Jason S. bit.. but not Cate.. ugh, please no!! (Though Jason might get me to combat the Cate bits.. heh..


And I don't mind that he doesn't do hair that well. or whatever I'm trying to say here. I honestly think that if anything they just keep the hat on him and it'll be fine. I never thought of hair that much with Hatter anyway. But that's because how I imagine people is always different than what they seem to be perceived by everyone else. (Though I still want to get a part in the movie. Lol :P)

I was was watching that movie, "Nanny McPhee" yesterday. I notice a young actor in that movie who would make a sweet young Alyss when she is 11. Her name is Holly Gibbs. I know I've mentioned this in another thread (I think it was in the Movie thread under the Trilogy section), but I personally think that Clive Owen would make an AWESOME Hatter! I don't know what other people think, but to me he's the epitome of Hatter-ness.

As for Molly, I would really like to play her myself. *grins impishly* But if not, I think that they should cast a really strong actress in the part--someone who can really pull it off!

Alyss (and others) are such mysterious new kinds of charactors that if they had actors that already was well known it would screw everything up because people already have oppinions about the person as an actor or actress!! like in the Harry Potter movies the main roles were new to the acting world. It made people curious and made them JUST think about the movie!! not the actors and actresses in the movie! Cuz I know one of my parents favorite "games" while watching a movie is to figure out who the main character is in real life!! NOT GOOD for any of the lgw characters! Plus how are new people gonna get into the acting world if directors just use the same poeple over and over again?!?!

OK, I've been wanting to read the Looking Glass Wars for the longest time, and I finally have been able to read it. Once I read about Dodge Anders, Ben Barnes popped into my head. He just played Prince Caspian and I think he would be PERFECT for this part. He is unbelievably handsome :D. I think a few people said that Elijah Wood would be perfect as him, but he doesn't seem like the warrior type. Someone also said that they guy from Tin Man, who played the Tin Man, should be Hatter Madigan and as soon as I was reading about him I thought of the Tin Man too! Neal something is his name. I'm still trying to figure out about the other characters. Alyss is really hard to figure out. There are a lot of actress out there and its hard to pick just one. For Redd I was thinking like Anjelica Huston, but she might be too old. I see her as just being a really dark, evil person. If I can think of any other actors/actresses, I'll be sure to post :)

Cat- matthew g. Taylor, he played nemesis in resident evil 2 and I think that in size, muscle, and presence he is good of course he doesn't look like a cat but his body I think is a good start.
Arch- I think George clooney because he is older but still very feminine and he is a very "macho man" like arch, ya know?
Redd- I know this is a long shot but drew Barrymore, when she was all anorexic and looked like hell that it remonded me of red, the cover art of seeing redd made me think of that, idk. Obviously not attitude wise but in appearance

Awsome choices! I totally agree that Stewart ahouldn't play Alyss. And I think That the people you chose (for younger and older Alyss) Are perfect. Altough I'm not sure about Hugh Dancy for Dodge. I love him as an actor, but I'm afraid he might be too pretty boy. IDK, he might be alright. And when I see Craig Horner, I'm going to be singing Mama Mia! But he would br okay.

fine by me but i think in the Cat's case, it would be best if it were computer generated and texturized so that the Cat looks as real as the actors and actresses. All that needs to be done then is some one to play the voice.

For me the cat would sound a little naisal, and a little prim and proper sounding. Fierce voice when aggravated. i got a good voice in my head and know where it's been played i just can't place a name. I hope the description is good enough. For some reason, I use the same voice for Hatter Madigan, Hatter Tock, and one of my original characters, Ben. Dey all da same voice. LOL

I agree with Kiera Knightly, she's good, but I don't think she'd be right for this movie...though she would bring good sword-fighting experience.

Dakota Fanning? No, heck no. She may be older but I still cannot see her as anything besides the little girl from Dreamer. (Plus, she's in Twilight and that's a BIG NO!)

Strangely, I totally agree.

Annasophia Robb can pull of a lot of good roles. Though, the one's I'm mostly aware of her being in them are the heartwarming stories (Because of Winn-Dixie and Bridge to Terabithia) Would she be able to pull of a serious, kick-butt, action role?

That movie is eh in it's own right, but when it's compared to Gene Wilder's, it was like comparing a bug to a tiger. ^-^

It may be because of all the annoying flashbacks, the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory would have been so much better without them.

Also, another role for Alyss maybe, Tina Majorino, just a thought. ^-^
