Does anyone else here notice that Frank writes like a girl?
No offense to him, he is a smashing author, it just seems feminine, like if his name weren't on the cover of the first book in large letters, I'd totally think it was a girl.

Hee Hee! I was just talking about this with someone earlier! XD
I love it! Lol
but his writing style is totally feminine.

lol it's true, people who read it at my school are like, "what are you talking about?", so it might be unique to be able to have that distinguishing between feminine and masculine writing.
I mean, it's violent enough (in my opinion) to be masculine, but the way he writes is just... girly.

Well, I write in a feminine style and I still have violent scenes.. so I don't necessarily think the violence adds to masculinity or femininity.. Its more of the choices of words he uses. The way he strings sentences and paragraphs together.
In Seeing Redd the word choices and sentence structures are defiantly more masculine than in the first book.

Why do I find it funny the currently more Redd-centric book would be that way, while the more Alyss-centric book would have people finding it more feminine?
Hee. Redd sure does wear the pants, that's for sure *cough*arch*cough*

i got to agree with Her Imperial that frank wrote more like a girl when he wrote a book centered around Alice/Alyss but the Book that went more towards redd had a little more backbone

Well for one thing, Alyss strikes me as a total girly-girl. And Redd (she's my favorite character btw...if you wanted to know :) ) is more mature and actually knows what she wants to do. Alyss is just going with the flow, or she was in the first book.
Ugh, I really hate Alyss, but her and Dodge better get together. He's a keeper.

I know this is going to rile up a few people, but I don't see Redd as being more mature. She actually seems as if she hasn't got a chance to grow up and is still stuck in a child-like fantasy of revenge.

If you were in Shakespeare everyone you liked or was interesting would die. (If you were too likable a character you would die as well).
If you were in Poe, you would suffer a fate worse than dying... then maybe die...
If you were in Lovecraft, you would end up a raving lunatic. Insanity would strike you in unfavorable ways. In the Mental ward or Morgue, by the end of the book... and the deaths are never pleasant..
If you were in a Lewis Carroll story, nothing is certain, you are here, there, and everwhere. You could can change size, turn into a pig, lose your name, walk on walls...
Tables and chairs would talk to you, and animals would wear suits and hats.
Time works backwards, and he is an actual person... yeah...
You're probably better off in a Lovecraft book...

Thank you very much. I do like to be called names. I don't mind that you think I'm kind of obsessive.. its all part of how people see me. And just because I Like to make clothes and translate that into costumes does not make me obsessive.. at least not for the book, maybe for clothes design though..
thanks for the Creepy comment though, I get called that alot. ^_^

Offended? No.
Curious as to why you'd consider costuming/cosplay to be creepy? That I think is more accurate.
You're entitled to your opinion, but I am not against countering with a "why?"
....and if you believe that -I- seriously consider myself Redd? I have some beachfront property in Kansas to sell you :)

You know I do alot of cosplay mostly due to the friends I tend to be around. Molly knows this very well seeing as she gets to dress me as she sees fit on occasion. I don't see cosplay as creepy or anything.
However, if it is creepy.... should one discourage dress-up? Hmmm....I know I won't.
I find it quite enjoyable even if sometimes the cosplay makes a person drastically change appearance, even to the point of switching genders (which has happened to me on occasion).
I really think I lost the point of what I was trying to say. Maybe I shouldn't try watching a movie when I'm typing. hmm...

I haven't read the second book yet--thanks to those display centers in bookstores that only show the first in the series, misleading you to think the sequel hasn't been printed yet--so it's nice to know that the second book is not as light as the first. In the first book, it seemed as if potential lines of emotion and whatnot were frequently left out; although there was certainly enough humor.

At least not to me. There was plenty there, for a first book. The second does build onto it, but emotion is always there when you read it. (or maybe its Just 'cause I'm a bibliophile with too much time on my hands and I read into things a bit much when it comes to emotion. meh, either way.. lol)
