Inhabit it
And its morals aren't worth
What a pig can spit
And it goes by the name of London!
Murder, revenge, cannibalism; the tale of Sweeney Todd has it all. Along with his pie-making accomplice Mrs Lovett, Fleet Street's "demon barber" shares notoriety with serial killers like Jack The Ripper, his infamy for dispatching his victims with his trusty razors before dumping their corpses into the cellar where Mrs Lovett would use them as the fillings for her world-famous meat pies having terrified generations. But if the story had changed, even just ever so slightly, would the fates of the characters remain the same?

Lucy Barker never attempted to kill herself after the night at Judge Turpin's masquerade ball. Instead, she fled Fleet Street with baby Johanna before finally taking up residence in Whitechapel to wait for news of her beloved Benjamin. Fifteen years on, Lucy has been forced to become a whore to provide for her daughter while young Johanna has become quite the pickpocket. But Benjamin Barker is back in London, having escaped from prison a different man; Sweeney Todd. Fueled by revenge, he makes his way back to his old shop where he is told by Mrs Lovett that nobody knows what happened to his wife and child after that night and it is believed that Lucy threw herself into the Thames after leaving Johanna in an unknown orphanage. Determined to destroy Judge Turpin for ruining his life, Todd begins his murderous rampage, unaware that the family he believes he's lost forever is closer than he may think...
