I found this oniesb.net!! for all of you hoping to audition check out the colored text!!!!! OH MY GOSH!!!
and for those of you wondering about the books check out the last paragraph!!!
“People would ask me what I was working on, when my next movie was coming out, and I’d talk about movies I wasn’t working on while I was secretly writing my book.”
Once the hot-shot producer behind There’s Something About Mary, Frank Beddor, beloved author of the novel, The Looking Glass Wars and the graphic novel, Hatter M, may be returning to the big screen. Beddor confided to an intimate gathering of fans during a Thursday evening panel that he had completed the script for a film adaptation of the first novel of the trilogy and was currently shopping for a director.
The script for the film adaptation of The Looking Glass Wars will apparently be structured very differently from the novel. The film will begin with an older Alyss about to wed Prince Leopold and beset by inexplicable feelings of emptiness. The early part of the book will be told in flashbacks as an adult Alyss returns to Wonderland and gradually begins to recall her royal heritage with the help of the Wonderland inhabitants. Fans were almost as eager for the film as they were for the author’s next book.
“Why are you here doing this panel when you could be working on writing the third book?” A fan quipped.
Since last year’s release of Beddor’s second novel, Seeing Red with its cliff-hanger ending; fans have been on pins and needles to read what they thought would be the final volume of the trilogy. Beddor delivered two bits of good news while at the panel. Although the title of the third book has not yet been released Beddor promises that it is complete, in the hands of the publishers, and will most likely be released next fall if not next summer. He also revealed that he has been approached about doing three additional Looking Glass War novels and is currently attempting to pitch a prequel to the first book that will revolve around the efforts of Hatter Madigan’s older brother to protect the royal family from the treachery of the red queen.

That's awesome news on all fronts, though I have to admit my nervous feelings about the film. As I've stated in the "Who will play Redd" forum, They have to be very careful with how they do this, or Looking Glass Wars films could lose their popularity, due to upset fans.
But thank you for posting this! It's good news!

Sounds like a good idea, the fight/escape/chase scene in London will probably be dealt with in the opening act! Would also be a fantastic way to show off what the Cat can do...

Um, it's sort of ALL over the forum, and there's even a page under the "media" section of the main site stating the (very slow-moving) progress of the film project.
And THANK YOU Bella for posting this! This is great news, and very revealing as to how the film is going to be set up.
By the way--what is oniesb.net?

Wow...I had the SAME thought when I was reading it.
They're all really awesome ideas if they can pull it off right. I really hope that it all doesn't go overboard. *crosses fingers* I really hope not, but I have faith in Frank.
Perhaps we need to make up 'Faith in Frank' t-shirts for those who are faltering. Wow...i dunno, it sounds a little religious. LOL LGW the Religion. *shivers* That's a scary thought.

I don't think I'd actually buy a t-shirt, mostly because I would probably get a TON of questions, and I don't enjoy explaining something over and over again. But I might get a small button and maybe one of the stickers.

I found this in a google search with the terms "Looking Glass Wars" and "script." I thought that many would be interested in Frank's replies to these two questions that were part of a longer interview. :)
"I have heard that Hollywood has become interested in making a film about Alyss and Wonderland. What can you tell us about that?
I have a script and am talking to directors.
Who would you like to play 'Alyss' in the film?
Somewhere in the world 'Alyss' waits and much like Hatter Madigan I plan to crisscross the globe in a worldwide search to find her. But instead of returning her to Wonderland, I will cast her in the role of Princess Alyss Heart."
Sounds like it won't be hard for us hopefuls to find audition sites!

For something that is *gasp!* actually on topic, I unearthed some other info over the magical wellspring of knowledge and communication that we call the internet. :D
(This is from an interview with Frank Beddor)
I hear that The Looking Glass Wars is to be made into a movie. Who would you cast as Alyss?
FB: We will launch a worldwide search for Alyss. Not since Scarlett O'Hara has cast in "Gone with the Wind" will there be such an exhaustive event. There is a very high probability the actress cast will be English so to all those interested I suggest you buy the book and begin preparing now.
Alyss, the heroine of your book, is one sassy lady. Are there any female personalities that you particularly admire?
FB: Nicole Kidman - a remarkable actress, so versatile. I hope that one day she will consider being Queen Redd [a character in The Looking Glass Wars] on the big screen. Alisha Keyes is a huge talent. Very special. [She] stands out as a true musician. It would be wonderful to have her write a song for the movie.

Some people have a hard time with it, especially if they have to do things that go way WAY against their personal beliefs or they are very uncomfortable with. Even if it's "just acting", there is that discomfort factor with having even a "pretend" moment on screen.
But I'd definitely not mind her. She didn't get Narcissa Malfoy (and I'm not geeked about who was chosen), so I'd take this :)

Oh, indeed, she did a great job - but she was reluctant to take the role because Coulter was a villain. She received a letter from the author and changed her mind.

Maybe they're starting with the flashbacks first.
I am a little curious to see how the flashback thing works. And I think most of you have already heard my concern for the possibility of crazies latching onto the series once it becomes a movie as we've seen with other movies (coughTwilightcough), though I don't think that it has that big of a chance of happening.
Anyhoo, I consider myself a skeptic and I'll have to see what the flashback thing is like to believe it.

Read Alice in Wonderland. Read Through the Looking Glass. Honestly, I hated them both. They didn't make sense to me when I was younger; they didn't make sense to me now.

No, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass is not suppose to make sense, but merely to poke fun at the Victorian children books and ryhmes. It's kind of like a satire in a way.
I never got into Alice in Wonderland until I've read LGW. But now I really do enjoy reading Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, and learning more about Lewis Carroll.
