View Full Version : Scary Parts in LGW?

Okay, this is a really lame question but I wanted to know if I was the only one who was actually creeped out once while reading the LGW series.

Was there any part at all in either The Looking Glass Wars or Seeing Redd that kind of scared you, creeped you out, or made you think, "O-oh, that's just freaky" and send a shiver down your spine?

I had a part that I was... ahem... uncomfortable with, but it is so lame. What about you guys? Or am I the only one? :o

The way she killed Jack made my spine tingle a little. And I think we I first read what Cat could do, that was a tingle moment. Other than that, no, not relaly scary. I don't think that I would even call what I've listed 'scary'...more like, 'woah-ly crap'.

This is weird, but when Redd killed Genvieve I got sorta creeped out. Also, when Redd called Arch, "Archy Warchy!" LMAO! :D

Yes, "Archy-Warchy" made me go, "Oh, gross!" Just to hear it coming from Redd was kinda funky weird.

Yeah, it was just so creepy to hear "Oh, Archy-Warchy" coming from Redd. I mean, this is the same woman who chopped off her little sister's head with a spear made out of pure power in the first book. And then, after the head goes rolling off somewhere, she randomly picks up the crown that fell off it and proclaims herself Queen.

To hear "Archy Warchy" coming from this lady was way weirder than seeing her send Queen Genevive's head spinning off into a corner wall.

Exactly! There's something so much creepier about Redd OUT of her element than IN it.

Well snap...yeah that was QUITE a creepy part. All those animated dead just munching away on the rich people while they all sat and had a little meeting. Not the sweetest thing ever, but it made a point. LOL

I also have to say...the whole part when the painter was actually painting the piece that Redd came from. It was actually a bit creepy if you put yourself in the poor guy's shoes. I mean...things just kept MAKING him paint something else. He had to be losing it!

I thought about that too! If something from my imagination started to basically haunt be, and I was seeing it every where... I honestly don't know what I'd do! I'd probably seek refuge in a Church while constantly muttering prayers to God for deliverance!!! ^.^

Oh yes, that is exactly what I would do, too! And I can't believe it didn't even cross my mind about the skeletons that ripped those people apart in Seeing Redd... that was SO DARN FREAKY! I hated how they kept going "Hungry, hungry, hungry"!

Y'know? I always thought that was probably one of the most blatantly sarcastic lines Redd ever spoke :)

Not to mention, there IS a part of me that wants to make a crown for Genevieve, but splattered with blood so I could carry it around. Then again, I also went as far as to consider making Genevieve's HEAD but I thought that would be a little too much ;)

There's also the idea of chewed up body-bits falling through ribcages and onto the floor. That makes them even more icky than zombies. XP

While not necessarily scary, Alyss' journey through the Looking Glass Maze always gives me the creeps. What if I was stuck in such a maze? It seems like a flash to the Twilight Zone.

Well... you never know. I mean, they did get away with that Lurtz/Aragorn duel scene in LOTR FOTR, so...

They might show or imply it, but not have any spurt of blood. I'm not sure if this is right, but I've heard that it's actually the blood splurting everywhere that earns R ratings for violence.

I liked reading it, but if I were actually having to go through a maze like that... :(

There's a reason I've never been able to do those weird houses/mazes of mirrors at carnivals and stuff. Brrr. When I was little, I thought for sure that I would get lost in one of those if I went in, and I guess that feeling is still lurking in the back of my mind somewhere. So, while that's fine for Alyss, I wouldn't really want to be in her shoes at that particular moment. LOL. :D

I LOVED the maze!!! Especially when her younger self was playing tag with her I absolutely Loved It!!! It would be cool to be stuck in such a maze as an adult you could get to see your younger self and have a wild time!!! Except where you could see your true love fighting some vicious monster then of course that would creep me out and I would probably pass out if he got hurt but still; I would love the adventure!!! Who wouldn't?!

Man, that was SOOOO sick! It made me want to puke just reading it. LOL!

I started this thread to see if anyone else would label as "scary" or "freaky" something as lame as what really creeped me out when I read the series, but no. I am alone in my lameness. LOL!

If I tell you what freaked me out, you guys have to promise not to laugh. LOL!

LOL. I was hoping people had forgotten about this thread.

Actually, the part that creeped me out more than anything else... more than Redd cutting off Genevive's head or the bones eating the people, was the LIVING FURNITURE IN BORDERLAND!

I seriously cannot read that part because the idea of furniture turning alive and running around and talking and living.... OMGosh. It creeps me out SO bad.

So, yeah. As pathetic as it is, the "living room" furniture is what scares me the most in LGW.

Mostly I hate the chairs. Could you imagine what it would be like if you were just sitting down to dinner or whatever and then all of a sudden your chair took off like it was possessed or something?

I think I would suddenly have the urge to spend the rest of my life standing up.

I went to a Catholic Retreat over the weekend called Youth 2000 and alot of my friends were there and probably gave like 200 hugs over the weekend, maybe that's an exageration:cool:, but I gave alot of hugs. Okay so I have a friend and she doesn't really mind doing slightly strange things, her name is Ana. So Ana's friend Breanna has a brother named Kyle who is 16-17(I'm not sure). Ana went up to Kyle and hugged him and he said, "What the h3ll is wrong with you?" He said it real slowly and drawn out and that made it even funnier. And then Ana hugged him the next day if front of some girls he likes(I think) and Ana said "I love you, Kyle"

Hey! I've hugged you guys before! I guess you just didn't notice. :(

ummm I think TWiNZ might've meant me and her you know
*thinks that's what the TWiNZ meant and doesn't want to get Molly angry/sulky;)*

I went to a Youth 2000 retreat a couple of years ago. Wasn't exactly my cup of tea, but that's okay.

Well I like them:cool:

Exactly! There's something so much creepier about Redd OUT of her element than IN it.

I would agree, the madness that Redd encompasses is much more frightening in our world, where it is foreign. It's one thing to see mad people who do literally crazy things, but to see someone manifest magic and be insane, more than a little scary.
