Thought I'd start this thread and give you guys the first update.

I'm starting by painting the running pose first as it's my fave.

Here is what it looks like so far...you can see that I kept some aspects of the painting that bothered us and changed them up.

I'm a sucker for blues and green and any mixture of the two. When I saw the 'official' painting of Molly, her jacket was these same hues and I flipped with glee. I kept SOME things like the 'official' painting of Molly, but just edited a few things that bothered people.

Very nifty. I am starting to wonder if that teal-ish color is Millinery standard :)

I'd like to think so!!

I love the way you are keeping sort of true to the disturbing painting that we all saw here online, but you are making it SOOOOOO much more believable. For example, on the jacket, there's the color and the -what would you call it? embroidery? embellishments?- on it as well, but much more toned down in the way that you get the idea that it's a girl's jacket, but it's not over the top girly-girly.

Seriously, I love the color. It's really cool. And like I said at the beginning, I also love the boots. They look like really high endurance but at the same time they're stylish and pretty... soooooooooo Molly.

Thanks! I love the way the coat came out too! Now I just have to hope that it comes out as nice in the other two paintings. LOL

LOL so true! :) It looked as if it would be impossible to walk in, let alone do the flips and fighting that Milliners are known for.

I always sort of imagined a really dark green. I don't know why. That's pretty close to what we're seeing in the pictures, though!

yay, you SHOULD be happy you did such an awesome job! Oh and just wait, I am involved with a large-scale musical play that's going on at my Parish and I always bring my laptop, and it's the big thing "What new background will she have today?" So I can't wait for everyone to see it and then I call tell them who it is and everyone can see the pic of Molly in all her awesomeness!

I just want to make sure that I clarify the Molly with the writing on it isn't mine. Mine are further back in the thread.

This one, while visually beautiful, isn't quite what most of us viewed Molly as at all.

I must admit I agree with that sentiment, even in my squee.

Firstly, the hat...I have to admit, a homburg doesn't look like that. Then again, perhaps the reason they call her Homburg Molly is that it's kind of like a title of private in the army..as homburg hats are quite small (see Mina Harker in LXG for an example of a homburg...and oddly enough my own silly idea of what Molly's hat was like..).

I wonder what the head of the Millinery is wearing..perhaps a sombrero?

...which of course leads me into this Eddie Izzard sketch about the size of hats and how they symbolize some form of importance.....

Yeah the hat it way too...floppy looking. Stupid thing is closer to looking like a fedora than a homburg. She's not Indiana Jones. Homburgs are smaller, more compact. Even on MY drawing I made the rim a little big.

Well, we know what the NEW head of the Millinery wears. ;)

I took out my laptop when some of my friends were around for a play practice at our Parish. LOL. You know what the desktop background is... :D

I got a bunch of "Wow!"s and "Woah!"s right away. One of my friends asked me "Who is that?" and I answered, "Oh, that's my favorite character from that book series I've been reading lately." She answered, "Oh, is that Molly?"

LOL. You can tell that I blah blah blah about LGW alot because the people I know, who have not even picked up either of the books, know the name of my favorite character. :rolleyes:

So, yeah. My friends were pretty impressed :cool: and I just thought I'd share that.

Yeah, it was turning out to be such a bad day that I needed all the help I could get! LOL! But luckily it took a turn for the better... after I saw your new painting and got happier (:D) things started to change for the better until it was a good day after all. Do you know...that there's not a painting I do since I watched that movie that I don't hear that in my head after working on their faces? LOL I LOVE that movie! Thanks for the props, I'm doing more today, so you'll all have another WIP soon.

Yeah, I remember when I first watched it, I thought it was super funny in a sort of unconventional way. My parents kept commenting on how painful it was to watch. That just made me laugh at them, too.

And then for my mom's birthday, we got her a book with all of the best quotes in it. :D She sort of groaned, but it may have honestly been more for my brother and I.

I'm sure she would. She let me take the Molly paintings. I think she really likes it when we show of her artwork all over the forums. :D

What I did was I right clicked on the painting and pressed copy. Then I pasted it into my pictures section on my computer. From there I selected edit and I cropped the pic till I got just the face part that you see. At that point it was small enough to use as an avatar so in my CP in the section where it says "upload your own avatar" or whatever, I clicked browse, went to pictures, selected the edited image, and uploaded it. Ta-dah! You've got a lovely original avatar featuring drop-dead-amazing artwork by GD!

LOL, no, poor GD is already busy enough without having to imagine things for us, too. LOL!

I always pictured the Alyssian uniform as two parts: pair of pants and shirt. They're both a bit baggy, because they're kinda like... IDK... unisex? Is that how you say it for an article of clothing that can be worn by guy or gal?

Anyways, I see them as a light gray, the shirt is button-up with long sleeves and of course the white heart on wrist part of the right sleeve. A kind of silky material, awesome by our standards but stinky by Wonderland standards. :p

So that's how I saw it. If I could draw I would do a picture, but... all my people look like sticks. :eek:
