I ordered them. You will not BELIEVE what happened when I tried to get them today. XD
OK so I went into Borders Books at 10:30 in the morning. Go to customer service. No one's there. So I had to go up to the register and ask the cashier to send someone back to customer service. XD She did, and I went back to chat with the lovely lady at customer service, who was giving me a death stare as if to say, "Don't waste my time, you freaking idiot." So I asked her for ArchEnemy by Frank Beddor. She looks it up and tells me sorry, it doesn't come out until November. There's not even an official release date, it's just November. XD! So I was ticked off, needless to say. I told her that no, today was the release date and maybe the store just didn't get it in 'till November. She glares and tells me NO, this store gets every book in ON the release date. The explanation she gave me several times over was, "Publishers ALWAYS change their release dates. It happens all the time." I SOOOO wanted to tell her how I am a member of the OFFICIAL forums and the author himself told us the release date and he knows for sure; not to mention if it doesn't come out 'till November, how come one of my BFFs got it yesterday? Hmmmm. Curious. XD But I decided not to waste my time on this woman who obviously did not possess the glow of white imagination. I went to follow the glow elsewhere.
So we went to Barnes and Noble. Now, this is no little mall store. It's one of the biggies, like as big as three of my houses. I went in and asked the man at this custmer service for ArchEnemy by Frank Beddor. He was polite, thank Issa, but not helpful at all. He told me that the book was indeed released, but they didn't have it. If I wanted to reserve a copy for when it would come in, I could do that. I asked him if the book would be in today. He was like, "I don't know. There's no way of telling with these things." But at least he admitted it was out and coming to the store. I would have really liked to see him and the lady at the Borders down the street discuss the release date of ArchEnemy. XD
So I came home and decided to order it off Amazon.com. I was just about to confirm the order when I noticed an odd little something underneath the book listing. It said, "Usually ships within 1-2 months."
Yeah. I'm not waiting no two months for my books.
So I came to the source of all true imagination materials.... LGW online store. :) Believe it or not, I even had trouble getting into this one. It couldn't connect me with the password I had, and no matter how many times I reset it it still said it would not match the email address I had provided. So I had to put in my parents' email address and make a whole new account for it. XD Once I had gotten on and ordered the beautiful books of ArchEnemy and Mad With Wonder, I get an email that says something along the lines of: "Unfortunately we have had a delay in getting the shipment of ArchEnemy from Penguin. We expect them in Friday, Frank Beddor will sign them over the weekend, and your shipment should go out on Monday."
XD!
Why am I not surprised. LOL!

I ordered it from there too. I'll get it then probably.
Ugh! Sorry to hear about your travails getting the books. Could you give us more information on the stores with which you had the problems? We'd like to look into this further. Feel free to private message if you'd prefer.
As for the password issue, send me an email on info@lookingglasswars.com from the email address to which your account is registered, and I can reset it manually.
Sincerely,

Oh my gosh, HOMBURGER! You should have ordered it early! DX I'm so sorry that you had to go through all that trouble. Normally bookstores ALWAYS receive the books beforehand so that they can price the books and get them listed as in stock. That meanie lady was LYING. That's how I was able to get mine early, but of course, my grandmother did some string-pulling on how it was my birthday and all, so yeah. =\
Note that I went to Books a Million yesterday and it was not on the shelf. Oh well; I didn't need to ask for it, so while I waited for the bus to come I sat down and started reading Arch Enemy for the second time. (Halfway through it now. :))
I did enjoy reading your story. Hehehe.
Chances are the books did arrive at that second store later in the day. What I recently learned is that delivery of a new release can arrive day of publication, not necessarily before. You would think that the publisher would want them there in advance--and ideally that is the case--but such does not always happen.

Ahh. *nods* And then even if they did receive the books on the release date, then they'd still have to pricetag them, adding on more time for when people can actually get it. =\

Hiya Colonel Barlow! Thanks for taking an interest in what I had to say. :)
The second store, the Barnes and Noble, was not the one that was really problematic. The guy knew it was out he just didn't know when it would be in. The one with the issues was Borders. I'll PM you the info on the location. :) The woman kept insisting that the publishing date had been changed and that there wasn't even an official release date, it would just be out in "November '09". But on borders.com, on the comp that they had there in the store, it said it would be released on October 15, but that it wasn't available instore. I thought I'd ask because you know sometimes it takes awhile to update comps and stuff, but apparently what borders.com and the borders database or whatever say are two different things. I tried to tell her she was wrong but she would have none of it. Sheesh. Black Imaginationist.
I did enjoy reading your story. Hehehe.
Of course you did. XP

She must be one of those evil people who chant "Off with Frank Beddor's head!" in elevators. DX
Of course you did. XP

I bet she is. Eeeeeeeevil! LOL.I wanted to find like a nice big hardcover special extended edition of Websters' Dictionary and chuck it at her. XD I so mean when I don't get my books. LOL! I wish I had seen her nametag. I could've reported her.... somewhere. Hee hee!

Awwww. Thanks. :) *Feels happier after bad last two days*

oh Homburger. XD poor you.
wanna hear mine? (not quite as adventurous as yours, but I'm gonna make it sound like it.)
once upon a time, Jem and I went to the bookstore...oh wait. we had to go to darn university classes first. DX LOL! and THEN! once we were free from the talons of the educational confines we ran up the stupid hill (why does the parking have to be up a stupid hill!) to Quigly (yes, we named our car that. XD). exhausted, we rested in our car and waited for the traffic to die down so we could go to our nearest Borders bookstore before we drove home. BUT!!!!
*ring ring* (actually it was the "Mamma Mia!" ABBA ringtone coming from our cell)
what's this? mommy? well, we couldn't very well ignore it. "hello?" and after that hello, our mother was home and told us to come straight there, no excuses! we had family coming over. DX I mean, I love my family! :D but WHY NOW!? I could have been in the bookstore when she called, but nope. so we drove to the alternate--not intended--destination: home. there was the intersection where we had to turn left towards Borders, toward ARCHENEMY, it mocked us in our faces. "MWAHAHAHAHAHA!" it said. we went straight trying ignore its echoing laughter.
we got home at 4 PM. still no book in our hands. mom gave us chores straight away and we did them as fast as humanly possible. of course, our house would be clean enough to SOME people. but in our household, it can ALWAYS be cleaner. XP (that's what you get when clean freaks and perfectionists are under one roof.) so we scrubbed, dusted, put everything back to its "proper" place.
we looked at our watches. 6 PM. AAAAHHH!!! still no book in our very tired hands. finally, our mom excused us before our guests would come at 9. to ARCHENEMY!!!! (or as our mom calls it "that one book you wanted to get.")
we hopped into Quigly and made our way to Borders. about 25 minutes later, we were there. now where to look? hmm. Sci-fi fantasy section? that WAS where we saw the LGW series last we were there. but what was this? THEY RENOVATED THE BOOKSTORE???!!! XD!!! *stops laughing* perfect. it was NOT in that section. (we looked....twice. well, I guess 4 times since there was two of us.) we went up the escalators (wheee!) to the Young Adult section. no. no. no. no. NO! it wasn't there! WHAT THE HECK! so we searched for an employee. after debate whether to ask the dude that was stocking notebooks in the paper section, we decided not to. he looked too scary. (DON'T judge us! you would have too!) and alas, a pretty employee lady came out of nowhere. yes! we went up to her and asked her for "ArchEnemy." that's all she needed to hear. "oh, I think I just saw a stack of those." she led us to the Young Adult section where we had just come from. and led us to a corner where a couple of dollies held stacks of books. they hadn't stocked them yet. she pulled a book out from the middle of one of the stacks. and there it was! MINE AT LAST!!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHA! "thank you." we told the lady.
we were back home by 7ish and couldn't read it yet. family was here.
the end.
but no fear, we stayed up reading it. :D

I have nothing interesting to say about how I got my copy of ArchEnemy except that when I got it, I looked in the back of the book and saw the 370 pages and said to my friends who were with me "That's one less than last time". They laughed
P.S. HM_F You'll get your copy and it will be all ok :D
