=\ I didn't really know what to put for the title. Haha. But does anyone here have any tips on how to draw hands (anime-ish hands anyways)? I've been trying to draw an Original Character for a FanFiction and I can't draw the hands. D= Its really frustrating actually...
Anyways, for those of you that are wondering, Im not technically new, but at the same time I am. I have had this account on the forums for a while, I just don't post often. I am from the WWM (WeeWorld Millinery) which has unfortunatly been disbanned untill further notice as far as I know. So now its called the DWWM. =\
Thanks for any tips on drawing hands! :)

Could possibly look at your own hand and go off that. I don't know how detailed you're talking though. Can I see some of your work? :)

Oooh, hands!

Okay. what position are the hands in? I can easily make you a little tutorial in photoshop. ^_^ just tell me what you need, if you need a fist, or an open hand, palm up, palm down, etc.

:)

(haha. Decommissioned WeeWorld Millinery. *giggles* you know the L.O.C. too then! ^_^)

I don't have much. Plus my scanner doesn't work, so I would have to use my camera to upload any drawings and it takes a long time to upload pictures. But, I'll see what I can do for uploading pictures. As for trying to use my own hand as an example... yeah, no. That doesn't really help me in my world. Haha.

Haha. The first and middle finger are running along the edge of a top hat while the ring and pinky finger are tucked into the palm of the hand. The thumb runs underneath the edge, allowing a quicker way to grab the hat.

I don't know how to put two quotes into one reply. =\

I used to have difficulty drawing that pose too. i'll totally make a mini-tutorial for you, since I'm familiar with that pose. ^_^ i used to hate it. LOL.

as for multi-quoting, well, you can quote someone by pressing the "Quote" button, then copy the text that it creates in the reply stage. Then before posting, go back and then press the quote button again on another person's post. once you get to the replying stage, then just paste the quote from the first person you quoted. ^_^ sometimes i do that, but I don't even know how much that made sense, so...

there's also that little button next to the "Quote" thing there, it's got like, a paper image, with a quotation mark symbol. (a little "+ thingabob.) click that and it turns red. then click some more. and when you're done selecting people you want to quote, on the final person, you click the actual "Quote" button. and it takes you to the replying page, where it will come up with all the peopleses quotes.

hope that helps! :)

Haha. Yup. That did actually make sense, because what is supposed to make sense, doesn't normally make sense. So when ... You know what, I'm just not going to go through the whole explanation. =\ But thanks for the help! =]

and... *sigh* try this. it's not reaaally a tutorial, but it does show some positioning. i guess it's more of a reference. but i tried and i don't see any one else really contributing aside from Jax, who is right; it's awesome to use yourself as a reference.

anyways, here i go. XP

i know you said to hold the Hat with two fingers along the brim, but, when holding any hat, it's better to hold it between thumb and forefinger, and much easier to draw anyways. ^_^ it's just the more natural way to hold it and has a better feel. (besides. if you hold it with both fingers? you want to press your thumb to your middle finger, but your thumb is too short to reach and you can't really grab the brim like that. LOL!)

so on this one i just drew a general Milliner with no name (*cough*) and he's holding the brim of his Hat. yes? ^_^

also keep in mind the distancing of the arm. you might have to add some perspective, depending on what angle you're drawing your Milliner from. also keep in mind that, again, depending on what angle it's from, the wrist will bend backwards slightly. bottom of palm may stick up a bit.

and here, i tried again with just showing the general shape of the hand, how it would naturally be. i did use my own hand as a reference. (*loves my black fedora that allows for good hat referencing*)

oh, and... okay, well, you go ahead and try it. press your thumb to your index finger. it matches up with the middle segment of your index finger, right? =) so just keep that in mind when drawing.

so that's about it. please ask questions if you have them... i doubt i really explained much. i suck at explaining, but i still just want to help. =P

and the attachment below is just what i drew as soon as i saw your first post. LOL. then i went on to make you specify later.... but there it is. general hands.
